Ale Velarde, a talented makeup designer and one of the most prominent grooming specialists in Mexico, faced a monumental challenge: her vast career in the film industry, with collaborations with major artists, lacked a platform that did it justice. The problem wasn't just the sheer volume of her work but the diversity of an art that ranges from character makeup to celebrity grooming.
A website was needed to unify her entire legacy in an elegant and functional way, a space that would represent her on a personal level. Ale had a clear vision: black, as a blank canvas for her work, had to be the central axis of the design, reflecting her professional and sophisticated style.
Our Approach
We approached this project as an act of curation and intentional design. Instead of simply displaying a photo gallery, we set out to systematize her extensive portfolio to tell a story. Through a collaborative process, we defined how each project should be presented. The choice of black became the foundation of our methodology, using it to create a background that wouldn't distract, but instead would allow the colors, textures, and details of her art to shine on their own. We focused on a minimalist design and a clean typography to ensure that the visitor's attention was always on Ale's work.
Our Solution
The final result is more than a portfolio; it's a digital experience that honors Ale's career. As the designer and developer, I managed to merge the functionality of a flawless navigation with an aesthetic that feels deeply personal. The careful organization of her projects guides the visitor on a fluid journey through her career, revealing the mastery of her art with every click. The website became a true reflection of Ale: an elegant, sophisticated, and meticulously organized space that does justice to her unique talent.
